Meet the Equine Emergency Vet Team
Kirsty Barnard, BSc BVSc MRCVS : Veterinary Surgeon
Born and raised in South Africa, Kirsty graduated in 2000 with a degree in equine science. After working at a warmblood stud in Oxfordshire, she completed degrees in veterinary biology and science at the University of Pretoria, before joining an equine practice in Johannesburg. She returned to the UK in 2015 and now works with equine practices across Surrey and West Sussex, and as a racehorse veterinary surgeon at tracks in the south east. She has a variety of hobbies, including spending time outdoors, walking her dog, trail running, cooking, gardening and reading.

Jane Harry, BVSc CertAVP(EP) MRCVS : Veterinary Surgeon
Jane graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2000, and later completed an internship at the Dubai Equine Hospital. Her passion for equine welfare then prompted a move to Egypt, where she worked at a charity hospital treating horses, donkeys and the occasional camel! She subsequently worked as an veterinary advisor for the charity SPANA, focusing on projects throughout Africa. Since returning to the UK, she has worked as a British Horseracing Authority vet and visited 50 of the UK’s 60 racetracks! When she’s not working, she enjoys sailing, paddleboarding, horse riding, running, baking, and walking her dog.

Olga Klecandová, MVDr CertESM MRCVS : Veterinary Surgeon
Originally from the Czech Republic, Olga graduated in 2008 and gained experience in practices across the USA, Ireland, Australia and Prague. She moved to the UK in 2011 and intended to only stay a year or two, but has never left! She now works as a racecourse veterinary surgeon at several tracks in Sussex and Surrey, and has developed a keen interest in emergency medicine, reproduction and chiropractic and acupuncture treatments. She spends most of her free time with her two girls and enjoys travelling, riding her mares, hiking, skiing, cycling and going to the beach.
